Start with the competition

Finding a Manchester United match on UK television or radio starts with one question: which competition is it in? League, domestic cup and European coverage have different arrangements, so the service you used for the last game may not be the place to find the next one.

This guide sets out the verified UK rights information for 2026/27, explains what MUTV offers and gives you a practical checklist for following a fixture. It does not assume that every United match will be shown live: check the listing for the game itself before making plans or buying access.

For the 2026/27 Premier League season, Sky Sports and TNT Sports hold the UK live television rights. BBC Sport is the free-to-air highlights partner. For audio, BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT hold the UK Premier League rights, although their commentary selections can vary.

For the Carabao Cup, the EFL says every 2026/27 match is available in the UK on Sky Sports or Sky Sports+. Some selected ties are also shown on ITV. Check the individual tie to see which option applies, rather than assuming it will be on a particular channel.

For the FA Cup, the FA identifies HBO Max as the UK streaming home of TNT Sports for its 2026/27 coverage. That information alone does not confirm where every United tie will be shown. Look for the match-specific listing when it is available.

For the Champions League, UEFA lists TNT Sports, Amazon Prime and BBC as UK broadcast partners for 2026/27. The partner list alone does not establish that every match is available live on each service. If United have a fixture in the competition, check the specific game and the type of coverage offered rather than assuming all three provide a live stream.

Can I watch every United league match live on UK TV?

Do not assume so. The Premier League rights holders are a starting point, not a guarantee that a particular fixture will be televised. Search the relevant schedules for the match and have an audio or highlights option in mind if you cannot find live pictures.

One example from the club’s own guidance is United v Burnley on 27 April 2024. United said the match would not be televised for UK viewers because of its Saturday 3pm kick-off, while audio and live updates were available through club channels. That example gives context, but it does not confirm the arrangements for a different fixture.

Does MUTV show men’s first-team matches live?

Manchester United says MUTV cannot show men’s first-team Premier League matches, or domestic and European cup matches, live during the season because of broadcasting rights. It does offer live audio commentary.

MUTV also offers match replays and highlights, live pre-season tour coverage and selected women’s and academy matches, subject to applicable restrictions. Check the listing for the match and coverage you want: a replay, highlights programme and live broadcast are different things. The availability of one does not establish that the others will be available for the same fixture.

Which radio station will have commentary?

BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT both hold UK Premier League audio rights for 2026/27, but their selections can vary. Check their schedules for the United fixture rather than assuming that either station will carry it. MUTV’s live audio commentary is another option to investigate.

The information available for this guide does not confirm radio coverage for every cup or European match. A league rights holder should not automatically be treated as the commentary provider for those fixtures; check the relevant schedule before kick-off.

Can I watch highlights instead?

BBC Sport is the free-to-air Premier League highlights partner for 2026/27. MUTV also offers highlights and match replays. Check programme or service listings for the particular match and for when the coverage is available; the rights information here does not establish a release time for every game.

If you are planning to watch later, look closely at whether a listing describes a short highlights package or a full replay. That distinction matters if you want to set aside time for the whole match rather than catch up on the main moments.

What has changed, and what is planned?

Rights arrangements are specific to competitions and seasons, so an old matchday routine is not a reliable guide to a new fixture. The information above identifies the UK arrangements for 2026/27, including Sky Sports and TNT Sports as the Premier League’s live television rights holders.

For the FA Cup, the FA identifies HBO Max as the new UK streaming home of TNT Sports for its 2026/27 coverage. Beyond the arrangements described here, this guide does not confirm future rights changes or a timetable for them.

Make a matchday plan

Start with United’s fixture and note the competition, date and kick-off time. Use the competition guide above to work out which schedules are relevant, then search for that exact match. A provider’s name on a rights list is useful, but the fixture listing is the better place to check what you can actually watch or hear.

If you are looking at a streaming service, check whether the listing is for live coverage, highlights or a replay, and what access it requires before committing. If you plan to watch with other supporters, agree on the option beforehand so everyone knows whether you are following live or catching up later.

For a radio-first matchday, compare BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT’s selections for Premier League games, or look into MUTV’s live audio. If live coverage is not available to you, plan around the confirmed highlights and replay options instead. Keep an eye on the fixture listing as matchday approaches, rather than relying on a remembered schedule.
